Creating Renew / Recert Requirements
For Awards other than Permanent Awards that are never renewed , and Awards where payment of a renewal invoice is the only requirement for renewal , you must create at least one Renew / Recert Requirement record . Any Award that requires credit hours for renewal ( as defined in the Award setup ‘ Total Credits Required for Renewal ’), requires set up of at least two Recertification / Renewal Requirement records – one that defines the requirement , and one that defines the credits and credit category .
Renew / Recert Requirements have five Requirement Types . Out of the box option set values include :
• 1 – Application
• 2 – Course
• 3 – Documentation
• 4 – Fee
• 5 – Credits
Requirement Types 1 – 4 require a related Education Item . If you only have one of these Requirement Types and no Credits are required for renewal ( as defined in the Award setup ‘ Total Credits Required for Renewal ’), you can select an Education Item with or without Credits and no further Renew / Recert Requirement records are required . You may add additional Renew / Recert Requirements , if needed by your organization , but there is no requirement for Requirement Type 5 ( Credits ) if there are no ‘ Total Credits Required for Renewal ’ in the Award setup .
Requirement Type 5 ( Credits ) does not have a related Education Item but has a related Credit Category . If Credits are required for renewal ( as defined in the Award setup ‘ Total Credits Required for Renewal ’), you must have at least one Track Requirement where Type = 1 – 4 with a related Education Item that contains Credits , and one Track Requirement Type = 5 , to define the number of Credits by Credit Category that matches the Credit Category for Credits defined in the selected Education Item .
If you have more than one of these Requirement Types 1 through 4 , you can select from among Education Items containing no Credits and those containing Credits – if the Education Items selected among all Requirements have enough Credits to satisfy the Award ‘ Total Credits Required for Renewal ’.
In the case where Credits must be earned from two different Credit Categories , you will need two Requirement Type = 5 ( Credits ) records , one for the number of Credits from each Credit Category . The total of all Recert / Renew Requirements where Type = Credits must equal the Award ‘ Total Credits Required for Renewal ’. Credits from Education Items in Requirement Types 1 through 4 , must satisfy the number of Credits by Credit Category for each Requirement Type 5 ( Credits ).
From within the Award setup , select the Recert Requirements tab to display the grid of existing Renew / Recert Requirement records .
